About Florida Safe Home

Florida Safe Home is a private platform that helps Florida homeowners connect with contractors for home-improvement projects. Using Florida Safe Home as a homeowner is free.

Why Florida Safe Home exists

Starting a home-improvement project often means figuring out which contractors serve your area, comparing options, and knowing which questions to ask before work begins. That first step can be the hardest part of a project.

Florida Safe Home gives Florida homeowners a structured starting point: one place to describe a project, learn about common project types, and connect with contractors who work on projects like yours.

Built From the Homeowner’s Point of View

Florida Safe Home was created with the homeowner experience in mind.

Home-improvement projects can become overwhelming before the work even begins. Homeowners may have to search through countless companies, make repeated calls, compare unfamiliar proposals, and try to determine which contractor is the right fit for their project.

Florida Safe Home was built to make that starting point simpler.

Instead of asking homeowners to figure everything out on their own, the platform gives them one place to describe their project, learn about the work they are considering, and connect with contractors who serve their project type and area.

Florida Safe Home was built from the same perspective as the homeowners who use it — people who want a clearer, simpler way to start a home-improvement project.

How it works for homeowners

  1. Tell us about your project through Get Matched — it takes a few minutes and is free.
  2. Florida Safe Home reviews the project request.
  3. Eligible network contractors whose services and service area match the project may receive the opportunity and may contact you about the work.

Matching depends on the contractors available in the network for your project type and area, so a matching contractor may not always be available or respond for every request.

How contractors participate

Contractors apply to join the Florida Safe Home network, and applications are reviewed before a company can receive project opportunities. Approved companies may receive opportunities that match the services they offer and the areas they serve.

Contractors can learn more at Florida Safe Home Pro or apply to join the network.

Our role in the process

Florida Safe Home is a matching and referral platform. We pass a homeowner's project request to network contractors whose services and territory fit the project.

  • Florida Safe Home does not perform construction work.
  • Florida Safe Home does not supervise contractor work.
  • Florida Safe Home does not prepare contractor estimates.
  • Florida Safe Home does not set contractor pricing.
  • Florida Safe Home is not a party to the homeowner's construction contract.

Your agreement for any work is with the contractor you choose. Project scope, pricing, scheduling, permits, and workmanship are matters between you and that contractor.

Homeowner education and planning

Florida Safe Home publishes educational project guides to help homeowners understand and plan common Florida home-improvement projects before requesting estimates:

Editorial responsibility

Florida Safe Home publishes and maintains these guides as an organization. They are written and reviewed by Florida Safe Home rather than credited to an individual author or outside expert, and each guide shows the date it was last reviewed.

When a guide makes a factual statement about licensing, permits, product approvals, insurance, wind mitigation or a state program, we check it against official Florida or federal sources and link those sources at the bottom of the page. Requirements change and vary by jurisdiction, so the source is always the authority.

These guides are general education. They are not legal, insurance, engineering or code advice, and they are not a substitute for your local building department or a qualified licensed professional.

Florida Safe Home is a private platform. It is not a government agency and is not affiliated with the My Safe Florida Home program.
